The story

On March 8, 1998, Michael Jordan played his final game at Madison Square Garden as a Bull — and pulled his original 1985 Air Jordan 1 'Chicago' pairs out of storage to do it, dropping 42 on the Knicks in 13-year-old shoes. It's one of the most mythologized footwear moments in NBA history.

This AJ1 Low OG bottles that story: a white leather base with a red-and-black garden-print motif across the overlays, Metallic Gold outlining the Swooshes and the stitched Wings logo at the heel, and a Knicks blue-and-orange lace loop tying it to the Garden itself.

At $140 in full family sizing this is an accessible storytelling piece, not a limited grail. Expect heavy NYC demand and a quick SNKRS sellout on launch day.

The deep cuts

  • The 1985 pair MJ wore that night was a size too small — his feet were bleeding by the end. He said he wore them 'to see if I could still fit in the original Air Jordans... a sign of appreciation for all the respect I've received here in New York.'
  • Peter Moore designed the AJ1, released publicly in April 1985 — and sketched the Wings logo on a United Airlines cocktail napkin after watching a kid receive a captain's-wings pin mid-flight.
  • The 'garden' motif is literal: red floral rose jacquard covers the toe, heel and lace panels over Chicago blocking — a double meaning on Madison Square 'Garden.'
  • It's part of a wider Jordan Brand x Knicks celebration for fall 2026 — which is why the Knicks' blue-and-orange stripe rides the tongue's lace loop.
