The story
In the summer of 2002, fresh off a third straight NBA title, Kobe Bryant showed up unannounced at Harlem's Rucker Park and torched the EBC pro-am wearing Air Force 1 Mids. Announcer Jeffrey 'Hannibal' Banks crowned him 'Lord of the Rings' on the mic, and the moment became streetball folklore — one of the few times an in-his-prime superstar touched down at the Rucker.
Nike's 2026 Kobe x AF1 Protro program has been converting Mamba lore into Air Force 1s all year, and this is its most story-rich entry: a crisp white upper with Safety Orange hits nodding to Rucker's asphalt-and-rim palette, Kobe sheath branding, and Protro-updated cushioning inside the 1982 silhouette.
